What Is Reiki?

Reiki therapy is based on a holistic and all natural practice of vital life force energy that organically flows through your body.  The idea is that a Reiki practitioner uses gentle, to no touch at all — by placing their hands just above your body — to help feel & guide this energy in a way that promotes balance, alignment and healing within the entire body.  The term comes from two Japanese words: “Rei,” which means Universal, and “Ki,” which loosely translates to lifeforce or source of energy.

Reiki has been studied for conditions like pain, anxiety, and depression. It’s a complementary treatment, which means you use it along with proven traditional medical treatments. It does not cure or get rid of any health conditions by itself.

How Does Reiki Work?

Whether in person or in a distance session (via video or phone call) You lie on a massage table or comfortable place of choice (if a distant session), fully dressed to your level of comfort, while a practitioner places their palms on or just over different areas of the body that the practitioner is intuitively drawn or guided to.  Distantly the practitioner tunes into the energy field of the client –as energy is not controlled by space, time or distance and can be tuned into from ANY where– and works exactly like a in person session, receiving intuitive guidance on what areas to move into and work on.

You might feel sensations like heat, tingling, or pulsing where their hands are, or throughout your body. Or you might not feel anything at all and are just able to relax. Some people get so relaxed that they fall asleep, which can allow any resistant energy being consciously held in the body to be released with ease.

A Reiki session usually lasts about 65 minutes.
